The initial 100% shareholder in Soma Initiative, Dr Douglas Baard concluded a broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) transaction with the renowned Cida Empowerment (Pty) Ltd on 30 November 2005, transferring to Cida 25.37% of the shareholding, unencumbered and with full voting rights. At the same time, one of Soma’s female executives, Jane Stone, acquired 11.19% of the company.
