Functional capacity evaluation
On this basis, the Soma Initiative’s functional capacity evaluation is a comprehensive, objective testing of a worker's ability to carry out on-the-job tasks. It can be used to determine an employee’s ability to return to work or to perform alternative work, and it can also inform reasonable rehabilitation and re-training to enable re-deployment.
Medico-legal occupational therapist evaluations
The occupational therapists of the Soma Initiative are tasked with evaluating, specifying and treating problems that interfere with employee performance and productivity – as well as carrying out medico-legal assessments of work function. They also analyse, plan, create and participate in rehabilitative programmes that help to restore vocational skills.
Job & work site analysis
A job and work site analysis combines a functional capacity evaluation with a work visit – which is often necessary to evaluate the specific demands that are placed on the worker and to ensure reasonable recommendations in terms of adaptations. It is important to note that, where necessary, these analyses can also take the form of home visits. |
